Man, oh man! I’ve been trying to get this announcement up for several weeks and it keeps getting put on the back burner. Tis’ the season.
Due to several requests here in Birmingham and back in Charlotte, I have decided to teach a beginner’s photography class in the new year.
The class is designed for mothers (or fathers/grandparents/aunts, etc.) who want to learn how to use their DSLR to take better pictures of their children. The class will be taught from the perspective of children being the main subject of your photography (whether its your children, grandchildren, nieces & nephews, etc). Even if you like to photograph other things you are still very welcome to attend, as the basic DSLR operation that will be taught is applicable to other types of hobbyist photography. I’m excited about doing this class at the beginning of the year because I know a lot of people get new cameras for Christmas and are excited to jump right into learning. This will be a great opportunity to learn how to fully utilize your new camera and get the most out of that investment. Many people who have asked me about teaching a class have had their camera for quite a while and are still shooting on “auto” mode and are eager to learn how to take advantage of more of the features on their camera. This class is perfect if you are wanting to go beyond “auto” mode whether you have had your camera for a few years or are expecting one to appear under your Christmas tree this year!
DETAILS:
I will be teaching two classes, one in Birmingham, AL and one in Charlotte, NC. The class is 4 hours. Tuition is $150.00 (after Christmas). If purchased before December 25, 2010, the price is $130.00. The class can be purchased as a gift, when you email to register please indicate if it is a gift and I will send you a gift certificate for you to give to your lucky recipient! Class size is limited to 10 participants to insure time for questions, and a few seats in each location are already booked, so don’t wait too long to register!

I am Grady Smith’s mother-in-law. We live in Montevallo and I serve as Arts Chairman for the Parnell Memorial Library Foundation. Several people in our area expressed interest in a beginner’s photography class. We don’t really know each other and I’m only aware of what Grady has told me about you, but didn’t know if you’d like to begin a dialogue considering you teaching your class in Montevallo. I do have several other photographers to interview about the class as well. Supposedly there are some pretty neat places to photo shoot in our town if you’ve never come this way. Thanks for considering. Mary Jane Evans
hello, do you have any classes coming up for intro or beginners SLR digital photography?
