A few weeks ago I returned to Charlotte for 8 photo shoots in just over 2 1/2 days. It was a lot of work in a short amount of time, but it was still a lot of fun because I got to hang out with some of the best families in Charlotte! I typically am not taking any new clients in Charlotte (since we moved to Birmingham, AL) but this was an exception and I was so happy that I bent my own rules. I just fell in love with this entire family. It felt like I was hanging out on a nice spring evening with my own extended family. They could not have been any sweeter, their smiles are infectious, and their love for one another was palpable. I love spending time with families that just enjoy simple time together, SO endearing!!
Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I am a natural light, modern photographer based in Birmingham, AL. Here on the blog you will see my recent work as it is completed and fall in love with the children that I have the privilege of capturing.
I am a modern storyteller. I would love to tell yours.

I have a lot of catching up to do on the blog….
Since I am a children’s photographer, I don’t get the chance to photograph engagement sessions very often but this sweet couple was a blast to photograph! Forrest and Coralie are getting married in Indiana and moving to Atlanta, so they really wanted to capture this time in their life in the city where their love for each other grew. We enjoyed a quiet morning in the park with downtown Birmingham in the background.
This past weekend, we headed out to Pursell Farms just east of Birmingham to spend some time with some good friends who live there. Saturday morning I scheduled a couple of mini-sessions and enjoyed meeting the families. After it was all over I realized that all the children involved were boys, no wonder I was so exhausted afterward!
It was such a beautiful place; I felt like I was on vacation since we didn’t have cell phone service out there. Before the sessions began, I enjoyed walking around and capturing the morning dew. It looks like spring has finally arrived!!!!
I have something to confess…..I have hair envy! In a MAJOR way!! After our engagement session last weekend with PK & Carrie, I was really digging her hair, then I got to sit and stare at it while processing their images and I think I may officially be obsessed. Beautiful hair, gorgeous smiles, and a couple that is in love AND laughs almost as much as I do….it makes me really excited to document their wedding next May in Auburn. I accept a limited number of wedding commissions each year because (a) I don’t want to get burned out of the whole experience of capturing weddings. Its something I really enjoy in moderation, and I want to keep it that way. and (b) If I’m going to be away from my family on a weekend, I want it to be for a really awesome reason….. and PK & Carrie are definitely pretty awesome! I’m looking forward to what I know will be a very personal and love-filled marriage celebration for these two next May. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of it!
Contact me for wedding coverage information & pricing. I will be available during the summer of 2011 in the Bahamas without a travel fee since we will be there during June & July visiting my husband’s family. If you know anyone that is planning a wedding in the Bahamas next summer, feel free to send them my information. I will also be available for baby, children, and family sessions there as well (Nassau, Paradise Island, Exuma, Abaco, or Harbour Island) throughout the summer.
Since moving to Birmingham we have been able to reconnect with so many great friends from college! Katie and Shawn were some of the first friends we spent time with after we moved here in August. We attended the same church during our years at Auburn, Katie and I were in a Bible study together our freshman year and grew one of the sweetest friendships. We met our beaus around the same time and were married a few months apart in 2005. Katie and Shawn sang in our wedding……they didn’t ask us to sing in theirs……probably because Jeremy and I have zero talent in that department…..although we sing some killer Disney duets in the car on road trips. We may or may not have an entire play list of duets on our ipods for such occasions.
But back to Katie and Shawn, they are amaaaaazing worship leaders at a large church in the area and are soon releasing their second album. I was honored when they asked if I could shoot the images for the cover and inside tray. After discussing the title of the album, I sketched out some loose ideas for the cover. I knew when I found this amazing vineyard, that it would be the perfect site to execute the shoot. The saturation of the hues in the vines are so beautiful in both color and black & white, so I was quite pleased with the choices that it offered them. When they’re finished with the project, I’ll definitely be back with some information about where you can hear their music and purchase the cd. Katie has the voice of an angel and their harmony is stunning!
A little bit of work on this Saturday morning, then I’m off for a girly day……a baby shower for a friend and then consignment store shopping!! I’ll be looking for twigs for my nest…errr….possibly items to reclaim for the nursery!!! I’ll do a post about my adventures if I find something awesome.
I don’t often book couples’ sessions, and honestly through some parts of the year I get so busy I have to refer them to other photographers because I want to focus on babies and children. But right after Christmas things slow down a little bit and it is exciting as an artist to do something a little different. Jimmy and Amber are a beautiful couple, they’ve been married for almost four years and they still look at each other like they just fell in love yesterday. Their love is beautiful and I enjoyed capturing it. I really enjoyed our time together.
