Not sure if everyone is aware of this but I guess we will all start noticing it in stores. Just wanted to give a heads up to all my clients since you will now see that the sales tax rate in the shopping cart is 8.25%. You may not have noticed it otherwise but I did want to share the news in case anyone was wondering about the change.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: SALES AND USE TAX RATE CHANGE
I. INCREASE IN STATE SALES AND USE TAX RATE BY 1%
The General Assembly enacted legislation to temporarily increase the State rate of sales and
use tax by 1%. The increase is effective September 1, 2009 and scheduled to expire July 1,
2011.
